Handcrafted wooden toys

Play is an essential part of a child's learning and emotional development, and what better way to stimulate the progress than with wooden toys. Compared to electronic, moving and noise making, battery operated playthings, wooden trains, cars, airplanes, or dolls have to be brought to life by the child. This means that the youngster has to unlock its imagination to create a suitable environment for its toys, which means it has to learn what sounds they make, or how they operate and move.
Wooden toys are safe. Most designs are simple, do not require batteries and are sturdy enough to withstand years of rough play. Each quality toy has been carefully handmade with all edges rounded, and sanded to acquire a smooth, natural-feel surface. If the item has been finished, an experienced woodworker will only use paints or stains that are harmless, just in case the toy would accidently end up in the curious hands and mouth of an infant.
Whether the miniature farm animals, building blocks, dollhouse, frog pull wagon, or race track are left natural or made from painted or stained wood, children enjoy feeling the item’s texture, density, and form. Using wood for toys can give the child a positive sense and appreciation for the natural world. Add some educational values and the toys will not only be fun to play with, but will also enhance the mental and physical growth of our beloved boy or girl.
When buying wooden toys for babies and toddlers, opt for those items that stimulate the child’s sense of sight, touch, and sound. This selection may consist of rattles, mobiles, pull wagons, squeaky clutching toys, or building blocks. For advanced tots and older kids, pick playthings that are interactive and challenging. These could be musical instruments, such as drums and xylophones, alphabet or picture puzzles, building projects, or model kits. Toys are not restricted to children, and if you are looking for wholesome family entertainment, you can always choose from a wide assortment of board games, such as wood solitaire with marbles, Sudoku, backgammon, checkers, or a traditional set of chess.
